2007 US Open

July 3-7, 2007

While our Salem club was hosting the 2007 State Games (click here for more), a small party of our players ventured to Las Vegas to play in the 2007 US Open. With a hundred tables and hundreds of players, the US Open is one of the largest tournaments in the country and an excellent opportunity to meet many new friends and play many different styles.

Matthew Barnes, our club vice-president, had an exception all-round tournament result, with many upset wins. The result is that he picked up a couple of hundred points on his rating.

Nancy Reynolds, Matthew's wife, has only been playing for a year, but managed to pull off a couple of big upsets against higher-rated players.

Ben Bednarz, our club president, reached the semi-finals in the Under 1450 division, thus achieving a tie for third place.
